Supervised Family Visitation Services
The Pauquette Center for
Psychological Services provides Supervised
Family Visitation Services in an effort to meet the needs of individuals who are required
to have professionally supervised contact with their children or other members
of their family. There are many reasons why a parent's visitation with
his or her child may need to be supervised, and the supervised visitation may be
voluntary or involuntary. The primary purpose of these services is to provide safe and
secure visitation between family members, to assure the child's comfort with
parental visitation and to monitor the nature of family
contacts.

Program Overview
Clients are supervised by a
mental health professional in the privacy and comfort of a clinical family
suite at the Pauquette Center for Psychological Services in Portage and
Baraboo, Wisconsin. To insure maximum comfort, arrangements can be made for
the supervision to be provided through a one-way mirror in which the
supervisor will have the opportunity to observe the visitation without
actually being in the room with the family. In certain instances, arrangements
can also be made for off-site visitation in natural settings such as parks,
playgrounds, restaurants or the home of a family member.

Scheduling
These services are available
by appointment and will be scheduled at times that are agreeable to the entire
family. Visitation can be scheduled during normal clinic hours. Some evening
and weekend hours are also available. The frequency and duration of the
visitation sessions will depend on family needs and circumstances.

Records and Confidentiality
A summary of the supervisor’s
observations will be retained and is considered to be confidential
information. Disclosure of any information will be made only with the written
permission of the visiting parent or as required by court order or state law
(when there is evidence of child abuse or neglect, for example). While this
service is not an evaluative one, the supervisor may be asked to describe the
quality of the visitation or to offer limited
recommendations to the courts, human services departments or other parties.

Fees
A fee for each visitation is
assessed. All fees are to be paid prior to each visitation; failure
to do so will result in cancellation of the visitation. A fee will be assessed
for any missed appointments or any appointments that are canceled less than 24
hours prior to the visitation.

Security
The security of the children
and family is of the utmost importance. Visitation will be prohibited if there
are any concerns related to substance use, family conflict or violence, or any
circumstances that might represent a threat to the safety or well-being of the
children, family or supervisor. The procedures for drop-off and pick-up may
vary, depending on family needs. Every effort will be made to assure the
comfort of all involved.
