Psychological Assessment and Evaluations
The
Pauquette Center for Psychological Services offers a wide range of psychological
assessment and evaluation services. These
assessment services are offered to children, adolescents and adults and are
conducted for many different reasons. In some situations, comprehensive psychological evaluations
are conducted for diagnostic purposes to assist in treatment and intervention
planning. Psychological
evaluations can be requested and conducted for many different reasons, however.
Some of the specialized evaluation services that are provided at the Pauquette
Center are mentioned below.
Two assessment services of a very
specialized nature that are offered at the Pauquette Center and that deserve a
detailed description are the Child Custody Evaluations
and Law Enforcement Screening Evaluations.

Disability
Evaluations
Pauquette Center
psychologists routinely conduct disability screening evaluations to assist
individuals, attorneys and parties such as the Disability Determination Bureau
of the Department of Health and Family Services to determine extent of work
limitations and eligibility for Social Security Disability or workman's
compensation benefits. These evaluations are conducted to assess such factors
as extent of emotional or psychological difficulty, cognitive limitation,
memory impairment or learning difficulty.
Forensic
Evaluations
Psychological assessment services are
provided to attorneys and the courts including competency and civil commitment
evaluations, assessment of malingering, personal injury evaluations and
violence risk assessments as well as Child Custody
Evaluations.
Neuropsychological
Screening
Neuropsychological
assessments are conducted to assess cognitive functioning and such factors as
memory impairment, executive functioning, language skill, learning,
sensorimotor functions, and attention as they may relate to medical or other
concerns.
Personality Assessment
Evaluations are
conducted to assess for psychological dysfunction (such as depression, anxiety
or thought disorder) and to assess aspects of normal personality functioning
(for example, self-esteem, interpersonal skill and temperament). These assessments
can be used in treatment planning and for other purposes.
Personnel
Evaluations
Personnel evaluations are conducted to provide information that can
be useful to employers in making personnel decisions (such as hiring, promotion,
or suitability-for-work decisions). One specialized assessment procedure in this

Psycho-Educational and Developmental Screening
Comprehensive
psycho-educational evaluations are conducted to assess the learner’s
cognitive and academic skill and ability, to assess for problems such as
dyslexia or other learning disorders, or to assist parents and schools to
develop appropriate educational expectations and plans.
These psycho-educational evaluations are also offered to adults who
are continuing their education.
Developmental
screening evaluations are also conducted with young children to assess
developmental progress in a number of areas including cognition and learning,
language development, adaptive skill development and motor skill development
Vocational and Career Planning Evaluations
Vocational
evaluations are also offered to provide information that can be useful as job
and vocational plans are being made. These evaluations can include
assessment of personality factors, vocational interests and vocational
aptitudes
